Water in Zurich

Wherever there is water I have a home. This is Bürkliplatz, right in Downtown Zurich, probably one of my favourite spots in the world.

Old Roland the roller

My friend Mattias wrote on his blog a while ago that the most radical and coolest bikes in the world are made by Electra Bicycle. He is so wrong. Let me introduce the coolest bike in the world: Old Roland, our own personnel vehicle.

Anyone who rides a bike is my friend. (Gary Fischer)

I am in desperate need of...

Things that I am in need of:

1. A boyfriend
2. A (working) vacuum cleaner
3. An iron machine

The ultimate offer would be a combination of all three.

Fun facts about Switzerland I

Switzerland has four offical languages: German, French, Italian and Rumantsch. Rumantsch, with its 40 000 native speakers is a language that in size could be comparable to my own Swedish local dialect (i.e. Marbo). In 1999, all the Swiss citizen had to elect whether Rumantsch should be an official language or not. A weird election one might think but for the Swiss, elections are just a normal Sunday event; Elections are being held 3 to 4 times a year. So since then, you have the right to claim any single official document in Rumantsch.

Rumantsch, however, is spoken in Kanton Graubünden (Eastern Switzerland) consists of five different dialects, dialects that are so different from one another that they sometimes are distuingiched as separate languages! Despite its small size, there is a Rumantsch radiostation

If you happen to have a big desire to learn this language, there is an Institute in Chur

My workplace

And this is my workplace..!

My Switzerland: Aargau

Aargau.
Maria, my collegue, and I spent two hours on Sunday morning just walking along the river. I can proudly tell you that I live about 50 metres from the river Aare. Aare ist just one of the words that you may find in almost every single Swedish crossword (Swiss river). Another fun fact is that my collegue's name is Maria Berg which is just a shortening of my own! (Ida Maria Serneberg). In the afternoon I ate fondue with some old and new friends in Zurich.

By the way: The people in my Kanton (i.e. province), which is Argau, are known to be the worse car drivers in the country. The license plate code here is "AG", which should be read "Achtung, Gefahr!" (Attention, danger!)

Bis später!

2006

Happy 2006! Anna, Linda and I spent X-mas and New Years Eve in Chamonix, which was a total blast. Tom Sawyer (by Mark Twain) says that "I have found out there ain't no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them" and I sure love Anna and Linda. Anna and I have so far done six trips abroad togtether, and I am surprised she still endures me.

On the Chamonix trip I lost:
1. My poles (and found them again)
2. My Jacket (and found it again)
2. My Visa Card (it is somewhere on a dance floor)

What can I say? Anna's dad says that I am "a threatening cloud" ("Hon är ett orosmoln")

My New Year's promises for 2006 are:
1. To never loose anything again
2. To visit Berlin
