Latest news

Latest news from Zurich: A duck bit me in my toe and I've been invited to take part in a TV-show audience.

Concerning the duck: My friends meant that she bit me because I didn't feed her. I have the opinion that she bit me because I am me and because the duck is a duck. (I hate birds and now I know for sure: my feelings are reciprocal)

Concerning the TV-show: It was a show with a famous German guy (?) and the theme was Swiss soccer. I guess I don't have to mention that I never went.

Weather last weekend: 25 C. We had a wonderful (despite naughty birds) picnic at Lake Zurich.

Dinhobl revisited

I really enjoy discovering new places - but revisiting old places is one of the biggest joy in life. Eventhough I haven't been to Vienna for the last five years I immediately knew what U-bahn and Strassenbahn would take me "home" to the Dinhobl family.

It was really wonderful to see them again - and the kids had turn out to be really good ones, despite the fact that they had to deal with me for a year. On Easter Sunday they had a big party for a big bunch of friends - just like they used to have every once in a while when I lived there. The same people, the same food and the same atmosphere. Could not be better.

Back to where it all started

Yes. After five years, I am finally going back to where it all started - cause I am off for Vienna! I will be leaving early tomorrow morning and spend three days with Dinhobl family, where I used to work as an aupair. It feels like I am going to revisit my old life as a teenager. These are times where I allow myself to become philosophical:

I sometimes, in my mind, visit that 19-year old Ida, whispering to her: "Hey, look what you became! Look, what you managed to succeed!" But sometimes an 11-year old Ida is whispering back: "Hey, do you remember me?"

We carry the stories of our lives with us all the time. Take care of them, keep them alive.

Sweet Switzerland

The hills of Switzerland are turning green and it seems to me that winter time finally is leaving us. I guess I for the first time actually is considering a foreign country to be my actual home. Einstein has said that "Man muss die Welt nich verstehen. Man muss sich darin zurechtfinden" ("You don't have to understand the world, but begin to feel at home") I guess I am getting there. At the same time, I cannot wait until holiday in July, which I will be spending in wonderful Sweden. For those who want to meet me in Sweden between June 30th and July 23rd should really book a meeting now ;)

And in the meantime - I am puzzling, eating Swedish meat balls and watching Ronja Räubertochter (Ronja Rövardotter).

Wish you all a happy spring time! / Ida

Bad blogger

Hey,
I've been blogging badly lately - updates are coming soon!

We've had a couple of days with between 18 and 22 C degrees and Zurich is really waking up! I've been hanging out with Emma more or less all the time. That girl has been living here for such long time that she doesn't even no what Knutby is, and she has forgotten the rivers of Halland. ("Hur var det nu igen? Diska vi, städa ni?")

Happy Weekend!
